Abstract

An optical photonic crystal sensor design is proposed, which contains a Silicon (Si) circular rods made, in a square lattice structure. Light is given at the input point of wavelength 1.55um. The output is observed at two observation points. Different Photonic Crystal (PhC) structures are proposed. The power analysis for the structures is done. The structures proposed is similar to power divider. The power, amplitude and quality factor values are noted down. Refractive index change is calculated for all the different analytes (bacteria in water) values. Amplitude and power - wavelength shift for different analytes are tabulated and plotted. Similar procedure is repeated for other different structures proposed. The quality factor of all the proposed structures is computed and compared. Modelling tool used is OPTIFDTD, FDTD tool used for Simulation is MEEP.
