Abstract

DC–DC converters with voltage boost capability square measure wide utilized in an outsized range of power conversion applications, from fraction-of-volt to tens of thousands of volts at power levels from mill watts (mW) to megawatts (MW). The literature has reported on various voltage boosting techniques in which fundamental energy storing elements (inductors and capacitors) and/or transformers in conjunction with switch (es) and diode(s) are utilized in the circuit. These techniques embody switched condenser (charge pump), voltage multiplier factor, switched inductor/voltage carry, magnetic coupling and multi-stage/-level, and every has its own deserves and demerits counting on application, in terms of price, complexity, power density, dependableness, and potency. Therefore, to gift a transparent image on the overall law and framework of the event of next generation increase dc–dc converters, this paper aims to comprehensively review and classify numerous step-up dc–dc converters supported their characteristics and voltage boosting techniques. In addition, the advantages and disadvantages of these voltage boosting techniques are discussed in detail.
