Thailand's Rural Development Policy Faces Asean Economic Communities

Abstract

Thailand as one of countries that has an important role in Southeast Asia region, has adjusted direction of its national economic development in order to have an impact on welfare of its people. Especially for rural communities.Thailand's rural development policies are directed at improving welfare and quality of life of rural communities. Various efforts to improve, strengthen and empower rural communities in various dimensions of rural development are carried out, because the nature of building villages means building region; and building a region means building a country or nation.Thai government has a very important role in initiating and implementing the OTOP program. At the national level, this OTOP policy runs through integration between Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Disadvantaged Areas, Ministry of Industry, and Ministry of Agriculture.
