Tunable Method of PID Controller for Cascade Control System

In this paper the cascade control system consists of two controllers. The inner loop controller is designed using relay feedback method. The outer loop controller is designed using the analytical expressions from Mikhalevich method in order to provide the desired phase margin which acts as the major tuning parameter along with the crossover frequency. This method provides a way to select the desired phase margin. This method has been tested successfully and compared with the existing examples on the basis of time domain performance index (ISE, IAE, and ITAE) to show the effectiveness.
