The causes ofblindnessis due to the Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) andDiabetic retinopathy (DR)[1]. In future, these diseases will experience a rapid growth due to diabetes incidence increase and ageing population in the present society. This work deals with identification of affected and healthy images based on the discrimination capabilities in fundus image textures.For this purpose, as a texture descriptor for retinal eye images has been done and the area and time consumption has been reduced by the means of Extended Binary Patterns (EBP). The main aim is to reduce the size and time consumption and also differentiate between Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) andDiabetic retinopathy (DR), and normal fundus images with the retina backgroundtexture by leaving lesions previous segmentation stage with the proposed procedure and obtaining promising results.
