Protection of Human Habitat in the Russian Arctic under Conditions of Global Climate Change

Tatyana O. Sarvut

The Arctic development program takes into account the ice melting and the increasing temperature. If the climate gets colder, the priorities in extraction of resources and the routes of their transportation will have to be revised. It is necessary to protect objects from the rising ocean level. The long experience of the Far North exploration has given the Russian people their own way of adapting to extreme conditions and preparing for the expected consequences of the climate change. The present paper proposes constructive recommendations for the protection of settlements.
