This paper present the control strategies for grid connected PMSG based wind energy conversion system under grid fault condition with ultra-capacitor storage system. The ultra-capacitor has a very high power flow capacity as compared to batteries and other conventional capacitors. Here, one control strategy is used for reactive power injection during grid fault so that low Voltage Ride Through can be achieved. Another control strategy is for ultra-capacitor storage system with buck boost converter circuit. The ultra-capacitor is integrated with DC Link capacitor and used for either evacuating or injecting the power very rapidly under grid fault or under DC link power fluctuation conditions so that power balance may be achieved between grid and DC Link. The proposed systems and their control strategies are realized in MATLAB/Simulink. These control strategies help to improve the system performance in terms of low voltage ride through capability with effective storage system support.
