The article describes the role of maps in geography lessons, their importance in improving the effectiveness of the lesson, the pedagogical conditions and systems of working with maps. There is also a discussion about the continuity of working with maps in geography lessons for grades 5-9 in Uzbekistan. Maps show the role of teaching, practical work, independent work, knowledge assessment, and the development of skills and competencies in students.
