Yashika,Manu Goyal

On 23rd September, 2018, Ayushman Bharat Pradham Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) was launched by honorable Prime Minister at Ranchi. It has been seen as the biggest step towards funding healthcare by the government as it has expected to cover more than half a billion of population in a single round. This step was strongly demanded because India has always been backward in its healthcare infrastructure. Private players are there in the ground but there was a need of such a scheme which can cover the ground level population without any major expenditure expectations from them. The scheme aims to provide protection to poor and vulnerable families at both rural and urban levels by providing an annual insurance cover of Rs. 5 lakh to the enlisted families for the treatment in empanelled hospitals at secondary and tertiary levels. This paper is an initiative to aware readers about this scheme, its benefits and limitations. It also tries to find out the level of implementation of the scheme at state level and the hospitals empanelled for the same.
