Abstract

Value Stream Mapping (VSM) is regarded as an important tool in the implementation of lean manufacturing. It identifies the waste in the system, paving the way for a successful lean implementation. From the initial observation, the researcher identify that the task between one processes to another process is unbalanced. This situation may lead to the bottleneck of the production process. Based on that, there is a need to improve the process flow by using a suitable technique that can help to increase the efficiency of the whole operations. The study focuses on the development of a VSM simulation model of the selected process flow of aerosol manufacturing industries. The objective of this research is to study the process flow of aerosol production system by using Value Stream Mapping. The data to create the Value Stream Mapping is collected by using Gemba Walk and time study on the process flow. Therefore, to achieve the objective, researcher used Value Stream Mapping in order to visualize the process flow. In addition, Witness Simulation Software also is used to simulate the VSM. The researcher is successfully identified the problems that occurs on the aerosol production system using the Current State of Value Stream Mapping. The study is indeed very useful to the company because the simulation model of Value Stream Mapping is very powerful tool, where it can demonstrate the changes in the behavior of the process flow. All in all, the visualization of VSM gives a good contribution for the company in order to achieve a good performance of aerosol production flow.
