Abstract

Growing global concern, towards reducing fuel consumption, and catalyzing researchers to find alternative solutions to increase engine speed and reduce fuel consumption. The objective of the current study is to useHydrogen as the alternative fuel to enhance engine efficiency. The converter is designed in order to produce Hydrogen and oxygen, Oxygen gas using water electrolysis process. Two converters were designed and fabricated for maximum Hydrogen gas productivity. Three controlled parameters have been assigned, namely, the plate's size, the distance between them and the number of plates. The air intake manifold of the four-stroke single-cylinder gas engine was drilled with 0.6 cm in diameter in order to channel both of Hydrogen and Oxygen gases into an intake manifold. The result showed that the "HHO Convector 1" produced the higher engine speed with the value of 592 rpm through a combination of 24 plates, 1130, 45 cm2 plate size and 1 cm plate gap. Brown gas (HHO) converter design can be used to produce Hydrogen gas as an alternative fuel to enhance engine efficiency.
