Diploma in Information Technology students in Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia are required to register for Principles of Programming course in their second semester. Students who enrolled in this course are having difficulties in learning as they were only provided with course module and lecture slides as self-learning aids. To simplify learning, a learning application of iteration topic was developed using question prompts with gamification based on an e-learning and gamification model. To evaluate the effect of the application on students’ performance, results of pre and post-test were compared. A survey was administered post-test to get students’ feedbacks of the application. Overall, the application improved performance and received positive feedbacks. Future work requires improvement in quality of instructions and questions.
