Abstract

Sensor characterization (SC) is essential to confirm a guaranteed level of output accuracy over various operating conditions. From time to time sensors are bare to and operate in a range of temperatures, levels of humidity, or even at various atmospheric pressures. Sensor characterization is an important test process to yield the behavior of a sensor and performance over various conditions. SC is necessary for industrially operating users where accuracy plays a crucial role in measuring process, for direct installation of sensors without proper calibration, characterization and validation is not recommended to provide proper monitoring and controlling actions. The main objective of our project is to characterize the performance of the sensor and validate the sensor characteristics corresponding to their datasheets. In this work, we worked with Thermocouple, Accelerometer, Ultrasonic sensors to analyze their performance and characterize those sensors. We compared the characteristics of both characterized and non-characterized sensors, one is calibrated with standards and the other is not characterized to show the accuracy difference between both sensors. Characterized information allows users to know how to use effectively in their industrial applications.
