Indoor positioning is one of the most important features in smart applications. In this paper, we present a practical method for Wi-Fi based indoor positioning. For this, we use the received signal strength from locating anchors to calculate relative distances. We determine positions using the calculated distances and the algorithm of Binary Search. We tested the binary search algorithm in an indoor environment with four locating anchors. Experimental results show distances near to the locating anchors are accurate where distances in the middle locating zone are less precise. These errors can be eliminated by adjusting the topology of the anchors and replace the measuring process by a more accurate one.
