Cleaning and Winnowing are the important process for preparing quality rice. There are a number of factor that affects the production of quality rice. Cleanliness and grain loss are considered as major factors. This process consists of removed of chaff and other debris. The diesel engine and electrically operated winnowing, sieve machine is used for this purpose. It is consumes more power and fuel. The emission from the engines exhaust produces more pollutant emission and cost of fuel also high. To overcome this drawback of engine and electrically operated winnowing machine, solar powered winnowing machine with sieve was designed by considering the important parameters such as air velocity, feed rate, shakes frequency, sleeve dimension, sieve tilt angle, crop variety and moisture content.
