In this Digital world, people handling the old documents will face many challenges. It needs to digitalize document images which will improve the quality and reading ability of a document. Many challenges faced in document images like blurred images, faded characters, ink stains, facsimiles, illumination, loss in data, noises obtained in documents. These situations raised the development of new methods, techniques and new algorithms which will rectify the challenges. The proposed method is a combination of thresholding and binarization technique by applying Sobel filter and standard deviation which will enhance the quality of a document and with good results.
