High Voltage Insulator Surface Evaluation Using Image Processing

A. Balamurugan and M. Krishnaraj

Transmission Line insulators play an important role in Electric distribution systems. Due to bad weather, the surface of the outer top Insulator is usually covered with mechanical and electrical stress issues. Cameras should be continuously monitored to reduce overheating and improve the accuracy, stability, and efficiency of the method. Sensors are used to sense key equipment parameters, such as the transmission of sensed data. These restrictions use this data to send the Wi-Fi module to the IOT web server so that the operator has the correct information, and the operator can obtain the parameter data. Make effective decisions before catastrophic failure. According to the proposed method, the controller can be used in auxiliary power stations with high-voltage towers or high-voltage lines to install multiple insulation monitors to monitor leakage current and weather conditions. Each independent controller can be connected to the insulator monitoring center via IOT technology to alert you of potential network failures when critical leakage currents are detected. The insulation monitoring kit sends each data to the monitoring system of the auxiliary power plant located near the monitored high-voltage line. The overall purpose is to create a low-cost autonomous monitoring system that meets the advanced needs of power companies through user-friendly software and intelligent data transmission technology.
