A Survey on Sentiment Analysis Algorithms and Techniques

The past decade has seen a phenomenal rise of blogging, micro blogging and commenting on blogs due to factors such as ease of accessibility, widespread reach and growing impact of social media. Due to increased popularity of online review sites and personal blogging, people actively seek out the opinion of others in order to form their own opinion especially when it comes to product reviews. Almost everyone with a gadget and internet connection can share information with others. Social media like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter are playing major role in sharing of thoughts and opinions on events, happenings and products. As a result, everyone can share their thoughts, feedbacks, and opinions with millions of people thereby influencing others’ decisions and thought process via what is termed as online word of mouth. In general, word-of-mouth has been recognized as one of the top most influential resources of transmission of information ever since the concept of telecommunication has been adapted by the society at large. Product review analysis has become highly beneficial to predict the current trends. Opinion mining and Sentiment analysis deals with computational investigation of opinion, subjectivity and sentiment which has become a widely focused area of research. The content of the user are too abundant to be analyzed in short period of time. The research is useful for supporting customers in quick decision making to buy the products.This also enables the companies to understand the buying behavior of consumers and reshape their business.
