Abstract

Non-invasive study and analysis of several neurological disorders was boosted by the revolutions in bio medical signal processing. Numerous devices were developed that can give functional or structural representation of the underlying tissues that will be subsequently followed by diagnosis and treatment planning. Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the progressive neurological disease that affects the day to day functioning of the person. The current work concentrates on discrimination between the normal and affected persons by analysing the electro encephalogram (EEG). The problem of spreading of spectral power is countered by effective windowing of the signal. Wavelets are used for decomposing the signal into approximation and detail coefficients. Spectral power is compared to judge between normal and diseased objects.
