This paper addresses the impact of communication time delays (CTDs) on frequency stabilization in multi area power system with hybrid generation sources. PID controller is opted as secondary controller because of design simplicity. The problem formulated in this paper is optimization problem, so a new combined differential evolution- artificial electric field algorithm (DE-AEFA) is proposed to obtain PID controller gains based on integral square error (ISE) performance criteria. However, the dominance of DE-AEFA algorithm is demonstrated by comparing the system responses with those of DE, AEFA algorithms. Finally, the robustness of proposed control strategy is established by conducting the sensitivity analysis.
