A Watermarking Scheme based on Knight’s Tour Algorithm for Medical Images

The rapid growth and remarkable evolution of information and communication technologies have brought new challenges in healthcare information systems. The possibility of malicious adversary to intercept or tamper private medical data has increased particularly during transmission and storing process through public network. Therefore, digital watermarking is used as an alternative solution for a number of issues associated with medical data management. This paper presents a watermarking technique for medical images using Knight’s Tour approach. Two types of watermarks namely caption watermark and signature watermark were utilized. The Knight’s Tour algorithm is applied onto the host image to formulate embedding sequence. The extraction process is similar to the above embedding except it is accomplished in are verse order. Experimental results show that the proposed technique is resilient from intentional attacks.
