For several decades, the banking management has numerous exceptional achievements in its recognition. The best sign for the strength of the banking trade in a nation is its intensity of the Non-performing assets (NPAs). NPAs area is of key concern for banks that hamper the commerce of the banks. Curtailed NPAs generally provide the impression that the banks have enhanced their credit appraisal deals over the years as well as growth in NPAs includes the necessity of provisions that bring down the entire profitability of banks. Now- a- days the importance of NPA is relatively higher in most of the banks. To develop an efficiency and profitability of the banks, NPA must be reduced and controlled. This paper looks at understanding the asset quality, asset quality review, NPA concept, its magnitude and most important causes for the bank account becoming non-performing as well as strategies for handling NPA among BRICS countries.
