Abstract

The wireless body area network (WBAN) is playing a very important role to estimate the health condition of a patient by measuring health parameters with wireless sensor nodes. The new trend in healthcare enables continuous monitoring of critical physiological parameters under free-living conditions. The link quality between node and access point is reduced in a wireless body area network due to interference with other coexistences. In this paper, we proposed an interference effect on energy of WBAN and energy-efficient routing protocol by taking thermal effect, energy ratio, link reliability, channel gain and noise power in to account to estimate Data rate. The performance of the proposed interference conscious and energy efficient routing protocol (ICEERP) algorithm is evaluated by using NS3 software in terms of Data rate, and Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR). The simulation results are compared with existing 2-hop protocol; it confirmed that the proposed protocol algorithm is more efficient than the other energy-efficient protocols and providing 4% better PDR even in the presence of interference.
