Abstract

Air pollution issue has been causing harm to many innocent lives. World Health Organization (WHO) had selectedPM10 as a standard to represent the level of air pollution. The purpose of this research is to determine the contribution of NO2 towards the level of PM10 recorded in SeberangPerai, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia. Level of PM10 and NO2 are recorded in microgram per meter cube (μg/m). Vector Error Correction Model is applied to achieve the objective of this research. The past level of PM10 is negatively affecting the current level of PM10. On the other hand, past level of NO2 in the air will affect positively towards the current level of PM10. The model can be used to determine the daily level of PM10 which provide clearer insight for policy makers to make tighter policies to control the emission of NO2 in SeberangPerai, Malaysia.
