Social protection, implemented on humane principles and organizational and legal forms, can become an effective component of social relations at all levels of the socio-economic system. At the same time, governments of all countries are faced with the task of effectively using limited budget funds. This also applies to the social protection system, which is designed to support exactly those people who need it, with the right help at the right time, even though social payments account for a significant share of budgets in most developed countries and countries with economies in transition. Therefore, governments try to ensure the integrity of the system by embedding anti-fraud measures in it. The article analyzes the scientific literature on the problem of managing the social protection of the population and countering fraud in this area. Based on an expert survey, the main types of fraud in the field of social protection and the main elements of the system for combating fraud in the field of social protection have been identified.
