This paper focuses on the control of the active and reactive stator power of Doubly-Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) installed in a wind turbine system by using nonlinear sliding mode control (SMC) method. The sliding mode is one of the most robust controls but its major drawback is the chattering phenomenon, especially in the first order sliding mode. The super-twisting sliding mode appears as a solution to minimize this undesirable effect. In this paper we will present a comparative study between two techniques of this type of control which are first order SMC and super-twisting SMC, this study is performed and simulated using MATLAB/Simulink environment.
