C-band fiber laser passively Q-switched by platinum saturable absorber

Abstract

A C-band fiber laser which was passivelyQ proposed and demonstrated. The SA was fabricated by depositing Pt on the fiber end face via DC magnetron sputtering. The SA has a modulation depth of 12.45% and a saturation intensity of 1.76 MW/cm². At the maximum input pump, the repetition rate, pulse width and pulse energy obtained are 34.53 kHz, 3.92 μs, and 16.14 nJ respectively. The signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is about 48.25db
