The article deals with interuniversity student campuses and identifies the problem of their insufficient number in Russia. The research object is the current system of student accommodation in Russia and Germany and their architectural characteristics. The research subject is interuniversity student residence halls as a means of improving the comfort of students' lives, optimizing the cost of maintaining dormitories for small and medium-sized universities and colleges, and solving the problem of overpopulation of student residence halls in Russia. The authors carry out the comparative analysis of student residence halls and their foreign counterparts, revealing the advantages and disadvantages of these systems of student dwelling, as well as the possibilities of their development in the framework of present-day conditions in Russia. The authors assess the expediency of forming a system of interuniversity student residence halls for small and medium-sized universities, identify the most successful characteristics of design solutions, and underline the relevance of this type of dwelling for the integral development of the individual during the entire training period.
