A Review of Smart City Index’s Success Factors

Abstract

Success factor is important to measure the performances of a smart city. This research discusses the success factors from the available smart city index for measuring the smart city’s development. The success factors tracks city’s performances and indicates improvement on infrastructure, environment, engineering and societal benefit. A comparative survey of the available smart city index lead to the challenges concerning measurability, subjectivity, complexity, reliability and disparity in creating success factors for a smart city. Hence, this survey identifies the demand to create smart city success factors, implementation for Malaysia, since cities can strategically choose their own success factors to measure city’s performances and improve citizen’s lifestyle.
