Inside WSNs, sensor nodes are working under various network scenarios and conditions to satisfy user requirements. Many researchers have been undertaken to design routing protocols. In general, researchers focus on designing a routing protocol that has certain characteristics, such as energy efficiency, quality awareness and security awareness; some of them are concerned about many attributes. In this research, flexible routing protocol framework is proposed for WSN under different network scenarios and conditions. The flexibility of the proposed routing protocol improved from our previous energy efficient routing protocol adopts the Advanced Cluster Generating Technique (EERRCUF). The first contribution of this framework is to apply the EERRCUF technique in to different routing standards such as ad hoc on-demand distance vector (AODV), ad hoc on-demand multipath distance vector (AOMDV), and low-energy adaptive clustering hierarchy (LEACH). The cluster formation in EERRCUF technique achieves energy efficiency and quality awareness in different strategies. The second contribution is that the security is achieved by the trust inference model combined with the EERRCUF technique. Finally the outcomes are related by means of existing routing protocols as well as the estimation result shows the efficiency of the proposed system.
