Internship Performance Evaluation: A Predictive Model for IT Students

Geraldine B. Mangmang

Performance evaluation is one of the crucial tools that can be utilized in the development of an organization. This study aimed to determine the accuracy of the performance rating sheet in rating the OJT students under the College of Computer Studies and Information Technology of Southern Leyte State University. Furthermore, a predictive model was developed to predict the accuracy of the instrument. The study utilized the quality form of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Manual, the OJT Performance Rating Sheet having the document code of SLSU-QF-IN09. OJT Performance Rating Sheet is used by the supervisors in rating the performance of the OJT students. Data from S.Y. 2014-2015 to S.Y. 2018 – 2019 were used as the input of the model. KNN algorithm through R programming was applied in the model development. The data from the current instrument used were fed to the developed model. The developed model predicted that the performance rating sheet used is not accurate. The overall performance rating was not accurately rated. The accuracy rating of the predictive model was acceptable, thus, leading to a conclusion that revision of the performance rating sheet for OJT students should be strictly implemented.
