Diagnosis of Stator winding inter-turn Fault in Wound-Field Synchronous Motor by using Wavelet Transform


Wound-Field rotor Synchronous motor is one of the most important application of electric motor for wide spread popular industrial applications like electric vehicles.Inter-turn faults in the stator winding of wound-field Synchronous motor is one of the severe fault causes the failure of insulation breakdown. Hence early fault detection is not done that leads to the causes of faults to the adjacent turns and stator core. This paper proposes a combined wavelet based means by using discrete-wavelet transform and stationary wavelet transform algorithm. A defect indices is bound on the basis of residue current energy value for detailed coefficients of fourth level for detection and identification of faulty phase by comparing fault indices with a fixed threshold. The proposed algorithm is practically verified and this algorithm is effectively suitable for off-line and on-line diagnosis. The results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
