Generating Sub-Images from Fingerprint Image based on Minutiae Points Features

Tawfiq A. Al-Asadi and Diyar M. Witefee

A fingerprint image is the representation of the epidermis of the human finger. Two kinds of information in the image of fingerprint are available, namely the global pattern, which can be define as the pattern of ridges and valley, and the local points, which are defined as the discontinuities in the ridges and valley. The later are referred to Minutiae points. In this study, the fingerprint image is separated into sub-images based on the extraction of the minutiae features by using the eight neighbor’s technique to specify the shape of these features. The sub-images are used for verification and identification purposes.
