Software Defined Network termed as SDN is a emerging technology that has evolved in recent years and has changed the scenario of network. Software defined network uses software based approach for managing the network and this is achieved by means of decentralizing the control and data plane. The entire network is controlled by a controller which is managed by software based application designed using JAVA, python etc. This paper focuses on security issues of SDN basically focuses on Denial of service attack in SDN network and how Denial of service attack affects the performance of the software defined network taking parameter of entropy for measuring the performance of software defined network. The paper also proposes an algorithm for detection of DDoS attack based on entropies of source and destination IPs.
