Fingerprint biometric is widely known and often applied for security mechanisms in current digital technologies emerging era. Unique features required in biometrics technologies able to provide secure user authentication and protects user’s personal information from unauthorized access. Even smartphones with new versions of android or iOS systems have been implemented biometrics technologies for better security environment. In this paper, research on fingerprint biometric was decided to be focused. These are security challenges of fingerprint biometrics and the solutions to counter these issues will be analyzed and discussed. A comparison of survey between Australian and Malaysian population regarding biometric technologies in society will also be analyzed and discussed.
