You Too Brutus: A Study of Factors Influencing the Turnover Intention amongst Academicians

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to identify the relationship and effects that influence the turnover intention among the private higher education institutions lecturers in Negeri Sembilan. The study was based on the underpinning theory of Herzberg’s two factory theory. Data was collected from 170 respondents through scientifically designed questionnaire. The reliability and validity test has been conducted and the cronbach alpha value was 0.80. Inferential statistics has been used to analyze the results. There is a strong significant relationship between the role overload, workgroup support and employee recognition has strong influence on the turnover intentions among the employees. However, leader facilitations do not have a significant relationship towards the turnover intentions. Number of PHEI’s should be increased with more diversified factors in the future research in order to explore and obtain better generalizability.
