After the identification of need for the number and types of personnel as indicated by human resource planning and the types of jobs that personnel will perform and the qualities that these personnel should have a indicated by job analysis, the process of acquiring such personnel should be undertaken by the organisation. This acquisition involves location of these personnel and attracting them to offer themselves for selection and making selection of the suitable personnel who may be able to perform the assigned jobs effectively. Thus, there are two distinct sets of activities involved in acquisition process – recruitment and selection.
