Abstract

This study investigated effect of combined cow urine and water as quenching media on microstructure and mechanical properties of Al2585. The samples were sand cast at 2000C to 5000C and subsequently were cooled cow urine and water. For this purpose, the UTS, YS, Hardness, and microstructure of the Al2585 were examined by Tensile test machine, Hardness tester, SEM respectively. Experimental results have shown that the microstructure and mechanical properties can be changed. At 50% blend, mechanical properties improved as compared with water and hardness increased at 80% blend. Microstructure refined at 50% blend and when % of cow urine increased in water high degree interlocking grain boundaries it showed that material becomes brittle.
