Abstract

Due to the increasing population of India, the demand for public transport is increasing. India has a well-developed public transport system. It helps linking the most out of the way places throughout the country. Though the milestone of connectivity is achieved, it has a long way to go. Among various things, it lacks the feature of track-ability. The primary focus of this paper is public buses. A lot of people travel through public buses. The passengers might be waiting for their bus not knowing whether the bus has left or is yet to arrive. They might waste a huge amount of time anticipating the arrival of the bus. Hence, tracking of buses is a crucial task to help them save their time. If citizen who travel by bus are informed about the exact location and approximate arrival time of the bus it would be really helpful. To implement this, the system proposes the use of RFID Tags, Global Positioning System and HERE Maps to predict when the bus can be expected to arrive at a desired stop. The application will also provide a ticketing facility. Users can check all details about all buses which will help them reach their destination. This system will provide an inexpensive and efficient system for bus tracking.
