Abstract

Medical Image Processing is widely used to detect and diagnose different types of diseases and the quality of detection depends on the quality of input image. Generally digital images contain noise. Image de-noising becoming more important to improve quality of images before they are further processed. Generally filters are used to remove noise in digital images. In this paper VLSI architecture for median and mean filter are developed. Verilog-HDL is used to design filters and results shows that median filter can eliminate salt & pepper noise effectively whereas mean filter is well suited for Gaussian noise removal.
