India’s agrarian economy is one of the largest in the world with up to 60% of its people depending on its fields for their main source of income. However, India has since undergone a transformation from being a predominantly agrarian economy to a digital oriented and techno-enhanced economy. The current climate is conducive for youth migration into other sectors. This study details a critical assessment of the reasons behind the low productivity and subsequent migration of rural youth from agriculture. This study focuses on identifying the associating variables towards the migration attitude of rural youth and productivity towards agriculture amongst youth from selected villages in Kerala and Uttar Pradesh. The data analysis highlights the relevance of having agro-businesses from the youth of India despite existing migration.
