This paper presents a basic design and simulation of 2.45 GHzsquare patch microstrip antenna in MATLAB software by using Simulink and antennatool boxes and then an attempt has been done to improve the radiation efficiency and total efficiency by the incorporation of particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique through the computer simulation tool (CST) software. For the optimization of the important parameters like, length of feed line (Fi), Length of Ground plane (Lg) and Width of Ground plane (Wg), thePSO technique has been incorporated in this paper. Along with the presentation of the improved results, thispaper highlighted the importance of optimization techniques in the field of communication and also thehistory of development of antennas for wireless communication systems.
