Can Correctional Education Program in Juvenile Home Incite Infallible Mental Health to the in Mates

Abstract

Juvenile delinquency home is the place where offenders are admitted who are under the age of majority to which they are waiting pre- trail which can be of long term in nature and also for the shorter period. Juveniles have separate court and they are treated under Juvenile Justice Act 2015. The objective of the study is to find out the impact of correctional education program provided for the delinquents for developing mental health among the children of remand home Mysore. The research is a case study , the data has been collected through intensive interviews with the administrators of juvenile home observation scheduled has been administered in order to observe the activities and behavior pattern of children in juvenile delinquent home. The research has been analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The findings of the study showed that the existing correctional education program should add more of value based education, normal academic learning and recreational learning for developing mental health among the children in juvenile home. The study also insisted the need for a continuous evaluation system, a specific budget to be set aside for the development of children, and the activities which should be carried out for developing children’s mental health. The result reflected for the need of having a restructured correctional education program which helps in enhancing the values, ethics among children in delinquent home which in turn helps them to lead a normal socially acceptable life when they go out of juvenile homes.
