ANN Approach for Modelling and Simulation of Grid Connected Solar Photovoltaic System with Reactive Power Compensator

This paper attempts to model and simulate the grid connected solar photovoltaic system with flexible alternating current transmission systems (FACTS) device, namely static synchronous compensator (STATCOM). The aim of this study is to design a model for grid connected solar photovoltaic system and a reactive power compensator to improve the output power quality and then to simulate the designed model in MATLAB environment. To achieve this, PV array with total power yield equal of 400kW is modeled, along with voltage source converter, the maximum power point tracker. The performance indexes are compared with state of art methods.
