Hand Gesture Control Wheelchair for Disable People Using MEMS Technology

Abstract

Now a day’s disabled people faces many problems with their mobility. This paper related with a development of intelligent wheelchair based on their hand gesture. The user wears a gesture device which consists of MEMS based acceleration sensor. The sensor will detect the movement of hand direction. This sensor sends the signal to the microcontroller. Microcontroller process these signal and control the wheelchair by the command given from the microcontroller. Enable sensor is used to detect the position for making the wheelchair to move. If the enable is in off condition the wheelchair does not move. Ultrasonic sensor helps to detect the obstacles for wheelchair navigation. Light intensity detection is used to detect the environmental brightness level. When the environment is dark the lamp will be on. When it is bright the lamp will be off.
