WSN has opened an attracting possibility of transforming gross mechanical actions into subtle sensory responses. WSN consists of group of nodes which does not have manual maintenance, and their energy resources follow scavenging Principle. Energy efficiency is an important parameter in WSN which leads to improve network lifetime, link quality, and throughput. Efficient energy utilization by clustering nodes is greatly influenced by election of cluster head. Even there is a high level of research from few decades; still WSN faces so many issues like high energy consumption, lack of lifetime improvement, low QOS, less throughput, etc. There are several clustering, routing, cluster based routing techniques to make the network more energy efficient. This paper explores different cluster based routing in military areas and plateaus. This cluster based routing gives effective results compared with traditional protocols and gives lifetime 62%, and energy consumption 47%.
