Abstract

This paper presents a PFC (Power Factor Correction) based on HIGH GAIN INTERLEAVED Cuk converter fed BLDC (Brushless Direct Current) motor drive as a cost effective solution for low power applications. The speed control of BLDC motor is done by maintaining the DC link voltage of VSI (Voltage Source Inverter) along with a single voltage sensor. This facilitates the operation of VSI at fundamental frequency switching by using the electronic commutation of BLDC motor which offers reduced switching losses. For the power factor correction (PFC) and improved power quality (PQ) the proposed method utilises a HIGH GAIN INTERLEAVED Cuk converter operating in discontinuous inductor current mode (DICM). The SSPWM technique gives input pulses to the switches in converter and inverter.
