In the energy processes, an important weight of the environmental problems facing humanity falls. The article exposes the social role of the university in terms of preparing the new generations with an integral approach to the territory and a sustainable energy vision from the local level. The objective is to propose a formative-methodological approach aimed at guaranteeing that students acquire knowledge, which allows them to promote energetically sustainable localities. It has based on a sustainable energyplanning model, with the support of other methods of educational research such as the historical-logical, the inductive-deductive and the analytic-synthetic.
