Performance appraisal could be used as the basis for human capital development and other actions such as bonus pay, promotion, rewarding, etc. This research discusses about a performance appraisal system, in which some problems are identified regarding the system for promoting trainees into permanent employees. It is found that the decision making through the system contains much uncertainty. Rating performance contains much fuzziness by the appraisers as a result of the natural uncertainty in human decision making as well as the unreliable appraisal system itself. Therefore, redesign of performance appraisal system using fuzzy logic approach is conducted. The result of research shows that the proposed system succeeds in reducing the uncertainty in the performance appraisal decisionmaking.
