Mechanical Properties of Welding of Titanium Alloy Grade 5

Abstract

we examined the properties, specifications and welding of Ti-6Al-4V. The results of the experiments show that the hardness of the base metal is always more than the hardness of the weld, which can be attributed to the softening and coarse structure of the metal in the weld area. Microscopic results show that the structure of the base metal consists of coarse-grained alpha-beta a phase which is converted to a coarse-grain structure with a needle-shape low density in high electrical current intensity in the weld area, which is one of the main reasons for reducing the weld strength.
